Suraj was 9 when he first stepped into the Welcome Centre of VOC. As he recall about his parents he has a vivid view. "I can only picture them fighting. Later I knew my father is an alcoholic that led my mother to leave the home. So my grandmother took the responsibility of me. As my grandmother was busy with the daily household work I started playing with children on the streets at Kathmandu. One day I moved out and never went back home. At the age of six, I started living the life of a street child. Three years in street was not a good experience. Food was scarce, a place to sleep was a problem and future was dark. Today I have been living in the preparation center of VOC and I can see a clear vision of my future. I am sure that one day I will be able to become a self reliant."
